Bring Community Together
On a beautiful November morning, Poly welcomed hundreds of guests to campus for Grandparents and Special Friends Day, a beloved tradition that celebrates the significant role that extended family and mentors play in students’ lives.

Our 579 attendees came from near and far, including a very dedicated grandmother who flew in from Italy to join her grandson at the celebration!
The day kicked off with grandfriends enjoying coffee, breakfast, and conversation in the crisp morning air on Babcock Field, followed by a warm welcome from Head of School John Bracker and Division Directors José Melgoza, Pat Gray, and Theresa Tran.
Grandfriends then joined their students in the classroom to experience the vibrancy of daily life at Poly. A spirited all-school assembly closed out the day, where students across grades shared their talents and voices. Students reflected on the deep love and wisdom they received from their grandfriends. Lower, Middle, and Upper School students joined together for a unique orchestral performance, third-grade singers gave a touching rendition of “I Am Thankful,” and all attendees cheered on the Middle School Dance Ensemble. In true Poly fashion, grandfriends and students alike closed out the assembly with a joyful and rousing Poly Panther cheer.

“It was such a wonderful experience to share a day with my granddaughter, Maddie; meet her teachers; and see how Poly continues to be a great place for our students to learn and grow.”
