LEARNING SPOTLIGHT:
Creativity
Poly was honored to announce the creation
of The Julia Jia-Yin Li ’21 Creative Arts Award
Fund in the 2024–2025 Report of Giving.
Created by the Li Family in loving memory
of their daughter Julia, the fund annually
supports two students who are passionate
about the arts.

Alejandro Kohn Rabassa ’26,
AP art project, 2026.
Upper School students were invited to apply for
an award of up to $5,000 to support their creative
endeavors in the form of creative programs,
internships, or projects, with priority given to projects
demonstrating financial need. A faculty panel from
the Visual and Performing Arts department reviewed
the applications, and we are so pleased to share that
Alejandro Kohn Rabassa ’26 and Marise S. ’29 were
selected as the award’s inaugural recipients.
Alejandro pursued a fashion design project that
explored his Chicano identity, while Marise attended
a creative writing course with a focus on poetry
performance at Idyllwild Arts Academy.

“I’m honored to have this opportunity to celebrate
Julia’s memory and embolden the indelible mark
she has made on this community. Thank you so
much for your generosity and for believing in my
artistic vision,” reflected Alejandro upon learning that
he won the award.
We look forward to continuing to celebrate
artmaking, made possible through this generous
award. Congratulations to Alejandro and Marise!
